And the monster

Crashing noises from the upstairs hallway.

MrsA to L3 (3yrs): What are you doing up there?

L3 (yelling back): I’m just playing Jesus and the monster!

Water crossing…

We were camping at a site that had a river close by. The boys navigated the strong, snow-melt current (under mom’s watchful eye) to barefoot over to an island. L2 got knocked down in the current on his first try, but MrsA helped make the second try successful.

While on the island, the boys started talking about which was the hardest part of crossing.

L2 (5.5yrs): it was the pushy downy thingies. illustrating with his hands

MrsA: You mean the strong current?

L2: Yeah, the current guys that try to push you over. I think they’re still out there.

Killing ants

L2 (5.5yrs): We’re killing ants to remind us of how Jesus died for our sins! …a moment later… And we’re burying them too!

L3 (3yrs): I not have a sense of smell.

L2: Yes, you do. I think you just forgot to turn it on.

When we were kids…

MrA: When I was kid, we just had one phone–

L2: And when Mom was a little girl, they just had one bathroom!

…more conversation about phones and bathrooms…

L2: And when Mom was a little girl, all the phones were stuck to the wall and they had to take Bibles to church.
