Two men came from our internet company to bury a new cable in our backyard. L1 and L2 watched with deep interest as the trench was dug.
L2 (3ys): Look!!! They’re digging and delving!
L1 (5yrs): No, they’re not. They’re just digging!
<cue major screaming and arguing>
We looked it up in a dictionary and decided that they were indeed digging and delving. I’m certain that L2’s original discovery of the word came from a children’s math story book illustrated with mice who were, on one page, digging and delving.
